The Transportation Department for Park County School
District #1 provides transportation for staff and students. The Department
operates fourteen school bus routes to transport students to and from school
daily. A total of eighteen route buses are kept active to cover all route
contingencies that might occur. Two buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts and
wheelchair stations to transport those students who require this service, with
one unit equipped with total climate control. This is sometimes a requirement
for the students who require bus service.
Four activity-specific school buses are owned and operated by the District to
provide transportation for student activities. The activity buses are equipped
with air ride suspensions, cabin climate control, under floor storage bays, and
special consideration to passenger seating to travel the long distances to
events in Wyoming and neighboring states. Route school buses are also placed
into service as activity buses, with as many as ten activity trips scheduled at
a time.
Sedans and SUV's are also part of the District fleet to provide transportation
for staff and students to out-of-town events.
School bus drivers have many qualifications they must meet. Pre-employment drug
testing, as well as random alcohol and drug testing, and a Commercial Drivers
License (CDL) with the proper endorsements are just a few. Regular training of
transportation staff is an on-going program. Safe transportation of staff and
students is our priority.
